Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encode the data exchanged between a web server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to protect the data that visitors submit on your site - a login page, a payment page if you run a web-based store, and so forth. Any information they input in any box on the website shall be submitted safely and securely to the server, so their login or payment data shall be protected from being accessed by unauthorized people. In general, an SSL certificate needs a dedicated IP address to be installed, which means the overall cost for your presence online will be higher. While this might not exactly be an issue for a larger business, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small web store which doesn't generate big profits if additional money should be spent. That is the key reason why we have taken advantage of an extension referred to as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we've made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Shared Hosting

You will be able to use this option with all of our shared hosting packages and with any SSL certificate issued from any vendor. When you choose to use an SSL from our company, everything can be arrange automatically and you won't need to do anything after you obtain and approve the certificate. The SSL order wizard will allow you to choose a shared IP address to be used and the SSL to be installed by our system, so using this feature requires only 2 additional mouse clicks after you fill the necessary data for the certificate. The appropriate operation of the SSL shall not be affected in any way and any information that site visitors submit on your website shall be encrypted and protected in the very same way. The only big difference from using a dedicated address is that http:// will not open your website, but it is extremely unlikely that anybody will ever attempt to access it that way rather than inputting your domain within the world-wide web browser URL bar.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The shared IP option is available with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting and the setup takes just two clicks inside the hosting Control Panel no matter if you obtain an SSL via our enterprise or from a third-party supplier. There will not be any difference with regards to how the certificate operates or encodes the info which your website visitors submit, so your site shall be secure without spending the additional cash for a dedicated IP address. The only thing that will be different is that https://the-shared-IP won't open your website, unlike https://the-dedicated-IP, but it is unlikely that anyone will ever try to access your internet site in this way instead of entering your domain. Additionally we offer an auto-configuration option for the SSLs bought via our company and if you select it and you decide to use a shared IP address instead of a dedicated one, our system shall set everything up as soon as the SSL is approved and issued without any action on your end.
